Gallery 1048 - Kathmandu to Lukla Flight

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla high in the Himalayas is one of the most exciting flights in the world. In just over half an hour you get transported from the hustle and bustle of Nepal's capital city to the tranquil, traffic free village of Lukla. The opening of the aiport gave this village an important role for all travelling to Everest Base Camp. Of particular interest is the final steep approach and take-offs down "the hill" of the inclined runway.
