Gallery 1069 - Bujagali Falls, River Nile, Uganda

The River Nile leaves Lake Victoria near the town of Jinja in eastern Uganda. About 10 kilometres downstream the dramatic Bujagali Falls are a series of rapids that provide excellent white water. Today they have become one of the main centres for adventure activities in Uganda. Sadly the threat of a hydro electric scheme threatens the falls. Uganda is short of electric power and does rely on imported oil for some of its power production. With this in mind there is great pressure to go ahead with this hydro scheme, which would see the loss of this natural resource.
