Gallery 1074 - The Royal Burgh of Culross

The Royal Burgh of Culross is an interesting small town on the north coast of the Firth of Forth. Its economy was based on salt and coal, which was exported to European ports. These ships returned with pantiles as ballast that influenced the architecture. Today some of the buildings in the town are looked after by the National Trust for Scotland.
