Gallery 1065 - Macau - Portuguese Heritage 1

The former Portuguese concession of Macau returned to Chinese control in 1999 after having spent 442 years under colonial rule. Today this special administrative region still retains many examples of its Portuguese Heritage most notably amongst its buildings. The Portuguese language is still used on signs although little evidence of it being spoken was heard during this visit. With a small land area, Macau is concentrating on establishing itself as one of the premier gaming resorts in the world with many new casinos either open or under construction.
